EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Community Outreach Manager
Job Description and Announcement
In southwest Montana, near the headwaters of the mighty Madison River lies a unique valley inside the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Called Raynolds Pass, it cradles the fisheries below Quake Lake, near the Slide Inn, Raynolds Bridge, Three Dollar Bridge, and downstream to the West Fork of the Madison River.
Raynolds Pass is threatened by encroaching commercial development to the south, north and east. Such development would tap the fragile bedrock water aquifer, one source of water to the Madison River, and would introduce new streams of pollution to the water. Increased density of structures, highway traffic and elimination of dark night skies will close critical wildlife migration corridors for elk, pronghorn, native birds and connectivity for endangered species such as grizzly bears, from Yellowstone to the Yukon.
We have successfully defeated the first application for intense development, a 150 slot RV Park and Resort that had the potential of bringing to the narrowest part of the valley more people than populate the town of Ennis, MT. Over those one and one-half years, we learned many things, including how to collaborate with the community and Madison County and that the tremendous growth in Montana must be managed.
Our organization, Preserve Raynolds Pass (PRP), was born in December 2023 out of the fight over the RV Park. Our ongoing goal is to protect the culture and value of the agricultural and rural, residential nature of the Raynolds Pass community, including water quality and quantity, and wildlife habitat in the interests of public safety and welfare.
We are in the initial stages of drafting proposed zoning regulations and related documents based upon the community interests gathered from this summer’s meetings. We will continue to share the message that good change, such as managing growth and stopping large commercial development, is a benefit to everyone. Commercial development currently in place is not threatened by our plan. But management of new development protects the river, water, land, wildlife habitat and more. And, in protecting Raynolds Pass by managing new commercial growth, we protect property values.
Preserve Raynolds Pass needs feet on the ground, hands on organization and communication to support this mission as well as future endeavors in Madison County, Montana. We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and energetic manager to serve as the Community Outreach Manager who will work closely with the Executive Director and the community to support our goals.
