Citizen Initiated Zoning Districts

DRAFT REGULATIONS AND MAPS

MARCH 10, 2025 - MARCH 20, 2025
PROPERTY OWNERS’ REVIEW OF DRAFT CITIZEN INITIATED ZONING DISTRICT REGULATIONS AND MAPS

Raynolds Pass property owners are invited to send their thoughts and questions to Kaye Counts before March 20th at info@preserveraynoldspass.org .

  1. Comments will be reviewed and may be incorporated upon consultation with PRP lawyer, Jecyn Bremer.

  2. This new draft will then be sent to Cody Marxer, Planning Director of Madison County, for comment.

  3. Once Cody Marxer’s comments are reviewed, the regulations and maps will be finalized.

Please Note: many property owners interested in protective zoning for their land could not be included in these initial districts. If your property isn’t located in these first zoning districts, options are available:

  1. Once a zoning district is established, an adjacent property owner may apply to the county for a zone map amendment to include their land in the district. PRP will work with you to accomplish that goal.

  2. A property owner or owners may organize a new citizen initiated district with their neighbors, propose zoning regulations, and petition the county to adopt them. PRP will provide assistance, such as tools, guidance, and can facilitate legal expertise, surveying and engineering services , partnering with the proposed district.

  3. It helps to remember that zoning district boundary lines may run across roads, rivers, and if needed, subdivisions. Wildlife and water moves through the entire valley.
